About
The Beauty Think Tank, the master’s program in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management (CFMM) at FIT has focused its annual Capstone research initiative on "Beauty & Accessibility," an exploration of the next wave of inclusivity in the beauty industry. The study includes original quantitative consumer research conducted by the class of 2024 and scrutinizes how to elevate industry inclusivity initiatives in retail environments, brand communications, and product offerings across three pivotal realms.
- Emotional Impact: Exploring the profound effects of inclusivity on consumer perceptions and organizational culture, highlighting the underrepresentation of neurodiverse individuals and people with disabilities, and emphasizing the substantial market opportunity they represent.
- Economic Consequences: Investigating the concept of "beauty deserts" and the equitable distribution of beauty products and services. This topic analyzes the challenges faced by underserved communities, quantifying the economic implications, and proposes strategic solutions to bridge access gaps.
- Social Implications: Examining the intersections of beauty, wellness, and societal norms with a focus on women’s hormonal health over a lifetime. The topic seeks to elevate the discourse around holistic wellness in beauty, advocating for enhanced support and resources across pivotal life stages.
Through this research, FIT’s esteemed Beauty Think Tank aims to equip organizations with actionable insights and strategies, fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and responsive beauty industry. Join us as we uncover the next wave of inclusivity and equity, revealing how enterprises can evolve to meet the needs of consumers in underserved communities.
